If you shopped online this holiday season, you played a role in Internet history

According to a report from MasterCard, U.S online sales jumped more than 15 percent during the holiday shopping season. During the last week before the Christmas weekend, e-commerce receipts totaled $5.5 billion, making it the heaviest online spending week of all time!

Online shoppers avoided the retail crowds spending a total of $36.4 billion between October 31 and December 22. That's nearly $5 billion more than the same time last year.
