Dickson, Tenn.-based Gatlin Development Co. wants the Plan Commission and Village Board to rezone 25 acres, at the northwest corner of Pilgrim and Lisbon roads, for a retail development. The commission will consider that request at its Tuesday meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m., at Village Hall, W156-N8480 Pilgrim Road.
Gatlin has not yet disclosed details on the proposal, said Matt Carran, community development director. Gatlin Development President Frank Gatlin couldn't be reached for comment Monday.
Gatlin Development is among the nation's largest developers of Walmart stores and Walmart-anchored shopping centers.
The firm is behind three other Walmart proposals that have surfaced recently in the area: at the former U.S. Bowling Congress site, across S. 76th St. from Southridge Mall, in Greendale; in South Milwaukee, on N. Chicago Ave.; and at Timmerman Plaza on W. Silver Spring Drive, west of Appleton Ave., on Milwaukee's far northwest side.
A Wal-Mart Stores Inc. spokeswoman couldn't be reached for comment. The retail chain's expansion plans for the Milwaukee area include an increase in its grocery sales.
The Menomonee Falls site is on the village's southern border with Brookfield. It is about a 10-minute drive from the proposed Timmerman Plaza store, and about a 20-minute drive from the Germantown Walmart Supercenter.
